We are parents of adult children far longer than we are parents of children under 18. However, during that season, we had multiple resources at our fingertips to help us navigate those years. We could attend seminars, read books, or talk with teachers, coaches, doctors, or counselors, there was no lack of information to help us with the potholes we hit in that season.
Fast forward to now. Every parent of an adult child will have challenges to solve. From struggling with a college child who has gone wild with his freedom, accepting a new family member who is difficult, disagreeing on how grandchildren are disciplined or addressing one's guilt or regrets, parents of adult children have had little resources from which to find hope, address challenges and gain new insights - until now. Surprisingly enough, Parenting Your Adult Child is one of the first websites and organizations to focus solely on this topic. While I cannot promise we will meet all your needs, what I can promise is that over time, there will be multiple opportunities for you to grow, learn and strengthen who you are as a parent of an adult child.
As a parent of two adult children, experience has taught me the journey is more about me than it will ever be about them. You and I will make many mistakes but the hope we have is that how we end is far more important than how we began. Each day new issues emerge we encounter that there has been no history from which to pull. However, there are some foundational principles on which we can build upon regardless of the issues we will face and I promise to walk alongside you as we learn together.
